Denison Grade School Field Day

All seven elementary schools in town competed in Field Day exercises at Munson Stadium today.. I took an interest in the competition for a couple of reasons. One,.. we have had four grandchildren go through Sam Houston Elementary School. Two,..our youngest granddaughter, Lilly, is in the fourth grade and a part of the Houston Bulldogs relay team.... And if PaPa misses this event I will be in a doghouse of a different variety, if you know what I mean.

While not as jammed packed as in football season, Munson Stadium did have a good crowd on hand to encourage the kids as they competed against someone from a rival school. The TV weather guy had called for a 40% chance of rain today, but it was mostly sunny with a temperature near 80 degrees.

Our nine-year old granddaughter, Lilly, is in the fourth grade at Sam Houston Elementary School and that is her in the middle of the photo behind the chain-link fence. Her teacher was giving the team some last minute instructions before they took the field. In the bottom photo, Lilly is next to last in line and waving as I took her photo.
The blond bombshell's part of the Mega Relay was to guide a teammate in what was called the 'wheelbarrow competition.' Lilly is light complected with very light blue eyes and my biggest concern today was the sun burning her to a crisp. Luckily her teacher came prepared and had some sunblock to spray on the kids.

Lilly had her own rooting section today and the Bulldogs did extremely well. In the top photo Momma and our youngest daughter, Jet (Lilly's Mom).  Jet barely looks older than some of the kids competing today. In the bottom photo, I am enhanced immeasurably by a couple of beauties. This is the group that Momma calls her 'blue-eyed section.'
